Grain in Ear (Chinese: 芒種) begins on June 6 this year and ends on June 20.

芒種是二十四節(jié)氣中的第九個節(jié)氣，也是干支歷午月的起始；太陽到達黃經75°時，芒種伊始。春爭日，夏爭時，“爭時”便是指芒種時節(jié)的收種農忙。因此，芒種，又稱為“忙種”。

It isthe 9th solar termof the 24 solar terms in a year. When the sun reaches the celestial longitude of 75°, the Grain in Ear period starts. There is an old saying: "Seize the day in spring, while seize the hour in summer." It says people are busy with both planting and harvesting in summer, especially during the period of Grain in Ear.

古人以二十四節(jié)氣作為農事活動的風向標，應時而動，適時而為。芒種正是南方種稻與北方收麥之時，既是耕耘，也是收獲。芒種時節(jié)恰逢每年高考時，亦是種下希望、期待豐收之日。
